Arrival & Tulips/Flowers

Today we arrived in Amsterdam, greeted by a friendly Dutch customs agent and more importantly my Aunt Gijske and Uncle Joe! We were a tad tired by the time we arrived but when Gijske and Joe suggested we see the Tulips - we agreed without hesitation. The drive to the Tulip farm was only a short one and when we entered, we were welcomed with ice cream. The weather was pleasant, around 60-65 degrees Farenheit, sun shining, not a cloud in the sky.

We wandered around the park for 3 hours or so, stopping at a windmill, enjoying some tea (Lo) and chocolate milk (J), and spotted free willy. We have uncluded some pictures below. Unfortunately, many of the tuplips were already cut... the weather has been unseasonably warm this time of year so the tulips were taken early. The flower is not the most imporant part - the bulbs are.

While at the park, we also had our first encounter with Mary Jane!!  As soon as Julie and I smelled it, we turned to each other and burst out laughing.  Then the couple smoking it quickly got up and walked away from us!  Too funny...

As many of you saw, we posted the picture of our plane - green with some shamrocks on the tail and wings. We will post another, better quality picture asap.

We are almost falling asleep now, after a delicious meal that Gijske made: Spaghetti, meatsauce, salad (including lettuce and radishes from their own garden), dutch cheese, and broccoli.

Hope to get a good night's rest...

Phil, hope everything went well today and Kels, good luck :)

Love,
J & Lo

^^  Windmill on the park ^^

^^ Not sure what kind of flowers, just a nice shot ^^

^^ Naturally, we saw Free Willy in the Park.  However, I did point out that if it were indeed Free Willy, his top fin would be curved. ^^

  5. Aren't the flowers beautiful? And the cheese is fantastic. We sent some home. It was easier then trying to take it on the trip. Have fun
